Finding Peace in a time of Violence

Date to be announced

Catalogue Description

Being peaceful , which is not being passive, has been advocated for centuries in different cultures as a response to violence and insecurity. As such, it is both an internal state and a means of relating to the world. This class explores the peace of the bodhisattva. This is the being in Mahayana Buddhism that seeks the enlightenment of all beings through maintaining an inner state of peace. We will see how this figure in Shantideva and the Lotus Sutra apply to our lives.
