An Evening with the Gita 6:30-8:30

in October 2003

Catalogue Description:

What is the meaning of Life? What is truth? How can we explain evil? Have we lived before? Can we know the nature of God? Do we have free will or are we determined? These perennial questions have predictable Western answers. Spend an evening looking at the Baghavad Gita and how this classic Indian " Song of the Lord," answers these questions. Sometimes these answers may sound very different, perhaps contradictory, but certainly thought provoking and profound. This poem has influenced thinkers as diverse as Thoreau, Emerson, and Gandhi, and continues to influence readers in the West.  No previous knowledge of the Baghavad Gita necessary.

Perhaps you have encountered the Gita or excerpts from it before, or you may be interested in one of the questions listed. If there is a particular passage or subject that you would like included in this  one time discussion, be sure to e mail your interest to me as soon as possible. I will be sure to include it. For more of an introduction to the Gita, visit the Article page.
